NewsLeona Lewis releases fastest selling singleLeona Lewis' new single 'Bleeding Love' has become the fastest selling record in the UK this year. 'The X Factor' winner - who broke records with her debut single 'A Moment Like This' after she won the ITV reality show last year - is already outselling her biggest chart rivals Take That by two-to-one. More than 3,000 people snapped up 'Bleeding Love' in the first hour after it had been released on Monday (22.10.07). Record store HMV spokesperson Gennaro Castaldo said: "It's turning out to be a massive week for singles sales. 'Bleeding Love' is outselling Take That's 'Rule The World' by two-to-one and the rest of the top ten combined, and is on course to top 200,000 sales by the end of the week if stores can keep it in stock - it's without doubt the fastest-selling single of the year." The 'Bleeding Love' video - which shows stunning Leona in curve-hugging Dolce and Gabanna dresses - is attracting an average of 150 views a minute worldwide on video sharing website YouTube. The promo also received three million views online in the first 24 hours it was available. If Leona is still number one when the top 10 selling singles in the UK are announced on Sunday (28.10.07), she will become the first 'The X Factor' winner to reach the top spot with a second single. Fiction Plane lands at Club NME LA Fiction Plane performed a rousing set at Club NME Los Angeles with Fred Perry Subculture last night (May 23). The London trio, fronted by Sting's son Joe Sumner, showcased several tracks from their new album, 'Left Side Of The Brain', which came out Stateside earlier in the week. Throughout their hour-long set, Sumner played bass and sang lead vocals on the straight-forward rock tracks, which occasionally got quite political. The band ended their final song with an extended jam. It was the first night of the Fiction Plane's world tour, which takes them throughout North America, the UK and Europe opening for The Police until the fall. "We just came in from London so we were a bit wrecked but it felt good to clear out the cobwebs," Sumner told NME.COM after the show. "This is the first show of the big tour so we're really excited." Also playing last night were Los Angeles indie rockers Castaneda, and The Dead Trees who opened for The Strokes man Albert Hammond, Jr. on his recent tour. Fiction Plane played: 'Anyone' 'Death Machine' 'Two Sisters' 'It's A Lie' 'Left Side Of The Brain' 'Cold Water Symmetry' 'Running The Country' 'Drink' 'Presuppose' 'Fake Light From The Sun' 'Cross The Line' Club NME with Fred Perry Subculture takes place at Spaceland in the Silver Lake neighbourhood of Los Angeles every Wednesday night. Next Wednesday (May 30), Bristol's BrakesBrakesBrakes and Electric Soft Parade are set to headline Club NME LA with Fred Perry Subculture. |
